Join Futures Group at the 2014 mHealth Summit
In partnership with Intel, Futures Group is hosting a breakfast panel on women in information and communications technology (ICT).
Futures Group will be taking part of the world’s largest mobile tech healthcare conference and expo, held December 7-10 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center near Washington, DC. During the mHealth, Futures Group is teaming with Intel to host a breakfast panel on women in information and communications technology (ICT). Futures Group will also be sharing the latest innovations and providing technology demonstrations at booth #417. The mHealth Summit aims to highlight innovative ways mobile technology is being leveraged to improve healthcare delivery. Read more

The world recently marked the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, one of the most widely ratified international human rights treaties. AIDS 2014, held in Melbourne, Australia this year, is the foremost international gathering in response to the HIV and AIDS pandemic.
Futures Group and GRM International employees joined together with an international gathering of 12,000 scientists, researchers and advocates at the 20th International AIDS Conference, held in Melbourne, Australia this month.

From July 20-25, and for several pre-conference presentations, Futures Group and GRM organized, presented and contributed to a large number of conference sessions and presentations on every day of the week-long summit. Our group’s work highlighted some of the most cutting-edge progress being made in the HIV and AIDS response in various key populations and all corners of the globe – from Asia to Africa. Read more

The EU-funded Institutional and Technical Support Project holds closing event in India
Workshop delegates gather to celebrate ITS achievements.
After three successful years, the ITS team recently held an end of project event to recognize the project’s impact and discuss how new initiatives can continue the momentum in health systems strengthening. Speakers and delegates included senior policy makers from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), senior representation from NIHFW, representatives from the SIHFWs, donor partners and health professionals from other organizations. MEASURE Evaluation Holds End-of-Phase-III Event
How MEASURE Evaluation accomplishes its mission
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded MEASURE Evaluation held its end of project meeting earlier this month. Close to 175 people attended the day-long event, which provided a look at the project’s accomplishments over the past six years, as well as the project’s history. MEASURE Evaluation helps to identify data needs, collect and analyze technically sound data, and use that data for public health decision making. During the event, past project directors spoke about the progress and evolution of the project, including its predecessor the EVALUATION Project. Read more

In conjunction with the University of North Carolina Water Institute’s 2014 NEXUS Conference on Water, Food, Climate and Energy in Chapel Hill, NC March 5-8, 2014, Futures Group is organizing a side event on Climate Change and Adaptation in sub-Saharan Africa: Challenges and Responses. Panelists are sought to address issues and challenges facing African countries as they seek to adapt to climate change. Read more

Health Policy Project India Dialogue: Leadership for Family Planning

India is making strides to help accomplish FP2020 and millennium development goal commitments. The Policy Unit at the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), set up as part of the USAID-supported Health Policy Project, organized a national dialogue on the need and importance of advancing medical education and curriculum for family planning (FP) in India. More than 70 people attended the Project Supporting Evaluation and Research to Combat HIV/AIDS (SEARCH) end of project meeting earlier this month. Representatives from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Project SEARCH implementing partners, including Boston University, FHI 360, Futures Group, Johns Hopkins Center for Communications Programs and the Population Council, shared highlights of their work under the project on January 13, 2013 in Washington, DC. World AIDS Day: VP of Ghana Oversees Launch of New System to Address HIV-related Discrimination

HIV-related stigma and discrimination remains a serious challenge in Ghana. Now, those experiencing discrimination in Ghana can turn to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for help. At World AIDS Day events in Wa, Ghana on December 2nd, H.E. Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, Vice-President of Ghana, oversaw the launch of a new web-based system for handling cases of HIV-related discrimination. Read more
