Futures Group provides ongoing health and monitoring and evaluation advisory support to complement PricewaterhouseCooper’s financial advisory services on local fund agent (LFA) contracts with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).

GFATM does not maintain a presence in the countries where it works. However, it contracts LFAs to assess the capacity of principle recipients to manage the implementation of activities funded under its grants and to provide ongoing information on issues which might affect grant performance.

Futures Group works with PwC as the LFA in Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Rwanda, Somalia, Eritrea, Indonesia, and Vietnam. For example, in Vietnam and Indonesia Futures serves as the in-country monitor to verify and quality-check the work of local Global Fund recipients (including data on reported results and numbers of patients on ARVs and TB treatment) and provides on-site technical assistance in program management and monitoring and evaluation as needed. In Tanzania, Futures reviewed the monitoring and evaluation plan for the Round 4 HIV/AIDS grant and did assessments for the Round 8 HIV/AIDS and malaria grants. In Zanzibar, Futures reviewed the monitoring and evaluation plan for the Round 6 HIV/AIDS grant and conducted an assessment for the malaria Round 8 grant. In Rwanda, we conducted a Phase 2 review of the Round 6 HIV/AIDS grant.
