The RAPID spreadsheet is an Excel version of the RAPID model. It is used to project the socio-economic impacts of high fertility and rapid population growth.

The projections are used in the RAPID PowerPoint presentation to build support for an effective family planning and reproductive health programs. The RAPID spreadsheet requires that you have first prepared two projections using Spectrum and exported them to the RAPID file format. Typically, one projection should assume the fertility remains high or declines slowly while the other one assumes that fertility declines rapidly. RAPID can then compare these two projections to show the net impact fertility reductions. The RAPID spreadsheet includes worksheets for: Demography, Economy, Education, Health, Urbanization, and Agriculture.

Detailed instructions are included in the spreadsheet. To use the RAPID spreadsheet you will need a copy of Microsoft Excel Version 5 or higher. The file is approximately 380KB in size. The program has been developed by The Futures Group International with support provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
