Health Informatics Development and Implementation

Futures Group has extensive experience in developing flexible data collection instruments for enhanced data use and analysis for a variety of users with disparate technical capacities. Its International Quality Solutions (IQSolutions), a robust library of M&E tools, provides the key components for adaptive program management, healthcare quality, and clinical sustainability. These data tools are available as open-source software; Futures Group provides technical assistance to users on product enhancement, adaptation, and use. Recognizing the unique needs of each country and each hospital, different systems within IQSolutions are used to meet varying capacity levels and needs of care and treatment providers.

Futures Group helps healthcare providers worldwide collect and use data for improved health outcomes. We provide a set of highly configurable tools with comprehensive reporting capability to clinics and hospitals in resource-poor countries.

IQSolutions is a robust set of patient management and monitoring systems and data reporting tools. They enable adaptive patient management, high-quality healthcare, and clinical sustainability. Futures Group designed these tools for use in countries with under-developed infrastructure, including rural areas with intermittent electricity. They do not require Internet access.

Each healthcare site has different clinical processes and reporting needs. Our IQSolutions informatics software applications can be configured to meet specific needs and they help staff effectively provide and improve patient care. These data tools are available as open source software (using a Creative Commons license). In return, our expectation is that organizations will use and enhance these products and share their software enhancements with others.

IQCare is a robust, comprehensive data capture and reporting system with management tools designed to measure patient outcomes. IQCare helps clinics collect and use data on patient care and presents their status over time. It provides easy, flexible reporting, leading to enhanced data use and analy¬sis. It is currently in use at more than 75 hospitals in Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda. IQCare offers a flexible form builder, program management costing analysis, and a stock management module. It can be configured for paperless data entry, and many decision support features are built into the system. HL7, ICD10, and LOINC interoperability standards are part of the base system.

IQTools is a highly configurable reporting tool that links to any electronic system and enhances the reporting capabilities and data analysis of any hospital system. It facilitates data validation and automated reporting at the facility and central levels, and across multiple databases.

IQMerge combines de-identified datasets to make data analysis and comparison more efficient. Users can look at emerging trends across all health facilities within a country or region, with simple and intuitive interfaces, error reporting, and the ability to merge information with other electronic systems.

Record of Results:

IQChart is a multi-language patient management information system based on the World Health Organization patient registers. It collects critical information and longitudinal data from Ministry and clinic records, then automatically generates essential information for care, analysis, or donor reporting. Used in more than 120 clinics in Rwanda and Guyana, it is a simple, efficient patient monitoring and reporting tool for low-capacity sites.

IQGeo links data from local partner treatment facilities to geographical information, mapping patient communities and health center locations. It maps catchment areas, planned expansion of health services, and more.

IQSMS is a mobile health data collection tool that helps communities and clinical staff gather and report information in rural areas with low resources. Data is easily entered on any brand of mobile phone using easy user prompts. Data is then sent to a central database for aggregation and analysis. The central server performs a quality check to ensure completeness and accuracy of the data and alerts the user if there is a problem. IQSMS can be configured to collect any kind of information with specific data validation checks.Futures Group conducted more than 850 strategic information trainings for data managers in four different languages: English, Kiswahili, French and Kinyarwanda.
